There was a higher percentage of woman MBA graduates in the United States (36.8%) than Canada (34.5%) during the 2010-2011 academic year.
The percentage of MBAs earned by women went down .1% between 2009-2010 (36.9%) and 2010-2011 (36.8%).
The 2010-2011 classes for the top ten US MBA programs were 35.5% female in 2011 compared to 30.6% in 2001.
Of the top programs, Wharton had the highest percentage of female students in the 2010-2011 class (44%). Michigan Ross had the lowest percentage (31%). Wharton's percentage of female MBAs has risen significantly in the past decade -- the 2000-2001 class was only 28% female.
The 2010-2011 classes for the top ten non-US MBA programs were 30.3% female. The top ten non-US MBA programs with the highest and lowest percentages of women are both Canadian. Schulich had the highest percentage of female students (35%) and Queens University had the lowest (17%).
Another Catalyst survey of MBA alumni who graduated between 1996 and 2007 found that 31% of woman MBA graduates receive promotions, compared to 36% of male MBA graduates. The same survey also found that women were over three times as likely to lose their jobs as the result of downsizing or closure.
